What hay delivery to Ocala costs
Delivery to Ocala is $35 flat. That is the same $35 whether you order three bales or thirty, and it is separate from the price of the hay.
Every Ocala ZIP is in our Zone 1 band: 34470, 34471, 34472, 34473, 34474, 34475, 34476, 34479, 34480, 34481 and 34482. That covers downtown, the corridor northwest of town toward 34482, the southeast side, and Reddick (32686) at the north end of the county. Belleview (34420) and Summerfield (34491) sit past the 25 mile line and bill Zone 2 at $40 flat.
We price on driving distance, not on a circle drawn on a map, so if you are on a county line or an outer address just give us the ZIP on the call and we will tell you which zone you are in before you commit to anything.
If your barn goes through hay faster than a truck delivery makes sense, ask about hay by the container. We load a 20 foot container with your hay, drop it at your property and leave it there as a working hay barn. Delivery is free within 40 miles of Williston, which covers all of Ocala. A container holds about 130 bales, the first 30 days of on-site storage are included, and storage past that is $25 per week. When it is empty we swap it for a full one with no extra delivery charge.
What Ocala barns buy from us

Our three-string hay covers timothy (first and second cut), orchard grass, teff grass, alfalfa, and the timothy alfalfa mix. Two-string bales come in as the timothy, orchard and alfalfa three-way. Peanut hay is our Southeast-grown option. We also carry shavings, straw and a short feed and supply list, so a delivery can bring more than hay.
Going by our own Ocala delivery records since the spring, alfalfa and teff move the most, followed by orchard grass and the orchard alfalfa mix, then timothy in both cuttings. Shavings ride along on a good share of those deliveries, so if you want bags dropped with the hay, say so on the call and we will load them together.

Ordering around the Ocala show calendar
If you keep horses in Ocala, the show calendar is worth planning your hay around.
The World Equestrian Center on the northwest side runs shows through most of the year. The Florida Horse Park on the southeast side runs eventing, driving and breed shows. HITS Ocala runs its Winter Circuit for hunter jumper competitors. OBS runs thoroughbred sales that fill barns for weeks at a time. Each of those puts horses into private training barns, boarding facilities and short-term rentals all around the venue, and those barns all need hay at once.
Two practical consequences for anyone buying hay here. First, order ahead of a circuit week rather than during it. When a show fills the county, the calls we get bunch into the same few days, so if you know a busy stretch is coming, tell us and we will hold your hay type off the next incoming load. Second, do not let a busy week force a hay switch. A barn running a managed ration cannot swap forage mid-circuit without upsetting horses. Because we buy the same hay from the same farms load after load, we can usually keep you on the same cutting, and when a new cutting is coming we will tell you so you can transition gradually instead of finding out from the horse.
To be clear about what we are and are not: we do not supply the WEC, HITS, Florida Horse Park or OBS venues themselves. Those grounds have their own vendor arrangements. We deliver to the barns and farms around them.
Where we deliver across Marion County and the towns around it
Ocala and the towns around it come off the same truck routes. Zone 1 at $35 flat covers all eleven Ocala ZIPs plus Reddick (32686), Dunnellon (34431, 34432, 34433, 34434) and Rainbow Springs (34465). Zone 2 at $40 flat picks up Belleview (34420), Summerfield (34491) and Hernando (34442).
If your address is not on that list, it does not mean we cannot get to you. It means the zone is not automatic and we will price the trip on the call. Past 40 miles from Williston we quote per trip rather than publishing a rate we cannot stand behind.
Picking up at the Williston store
Plenty of Ocala customers with a truck and a trailer just drive out and load. The store is at 21091 NE US Hwy 27, Williston, FL 32696, open 9:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday and 9:00 to 2:30 Saturday, closed Sunday. Call ahead on (352) 528-1255 and we will have it pulled and ready. It is a straight run on US-27 in both directions.
Where our hay comes from, and what we test
Most of what we sell we grow ourselves, on the family's farm in Nevada. What we cannot grow we buy from Nevada and the surrounding western states, mostly Idaho with some Utah and a little California and Arizona, all chosen for irrigation and a dry curing climate. On top of that we contract a set number of loads out of Alberta each year for the Canadian blends.
The western loads are tested through Equi-Analytical, and the report for the lot you bought ships with the hay: crude protein, sugars and starch, fibre, relative feed value. To be straight about what that means, we test the field the hay came from, not every individual bale. Two bales off the same field are close, they are not identical, and anybody promising you a per-bale guarantee is promising something hay does not do. What the report gives you is a real number for the lot instead of a generic product sheet, which is what a barn feeding a metabolic or insulin-resistant horse actually needs to work from.
Peanut hay is the exception, and it is a different product on purpose: it is locally grown in the Southeast rather than trucked in from out west. If you want lab numbers on paper, buy from the western list. If you want a locally grown legume hay that horses generally eat well, peanut hay is on the shelf.

What should I ask a hay supplier before I order?
Five questions sort the good ones from the rest, whoever you buy from. Where was it grown. Which cutting is it. Is there a lab analysis you can see. How is it stored, because Florida humidity ruins hay kept badly. And can they keep you on the same hay next time, because consistency load to load is worth as much as any single good bale. A supplier who cannot answer the first two is guessing.
Is your hay lab tested?
The western loads are, through Equi-Analytical, and the report for that lot comes with the hay. We test the field, not each bale, so treat the numbers as an accurate read on the lot rather than a per-bale guarantee. Peanut hay is locally grown in the Southeast rather than shipped from out west, so it sits outside that western testing program.
Is there a minimum order for delivery?
No minimum. Order one bale or a full container load. The $35 flat delivery covers the trip regardless of size, so a very small order makes for expensive delivery per bale. If you only want a few bales, picking up at the store avoids the delivery charge entirely.
How much notice do you need?
A few days is comfortable and lets us pick a window that fits your barn schedule. Rush orders happen when the truck has room and the hay is in stock. Call and ask, we will tell you honestly whether we can make it.
Do you deliver hay by the container to Ocala?
