Our Story
Fifth-generation farmers serving the Horse Capital of the World with premium Western hay.
Who We Are
Delmar and Trennis are fifth-generation American farmers and the owners of Farmers Direct Hay and Feed in Williston, Florida. Their mission is simple: empowering customer success through premium products and exceptional service, backed by honesty and integrity.
The brothers have been in the horse hay business since 2012 and bought their own farm in 2017. After five years of searching for the right opportunity, they came to an agreement with the previous owner of the Williston location. Their first day was September 2, 2024.
What sets Farmers Direct apart is something very few feed stores can claim: they actually grow the hay they sell. In fact, there are only two feed stores in the entire state of Florida that can say that. They pride themselves in the quality of their hay and their service to every customer who walks through the door.
All of their hay comes from Nevada, where the high desert climate, dry air, and irrigated fields produce nutrient-dense, high-quality Western hay. They bring in a handful of loads from Alberta, Canada each year (four or five) to fill specific needs in the marketplace that their Nevada supply does not cover.

Our Promise
At Farmers Direct Hay and Feed in Williston, we are proud to provide high-quality, consistent hay and feed products for farms across Central Florida. Our hay goes directly from our farm to your farm, not from a mix of loads from different places. That means every bale you buy from us comes from the same source, handled with the same care, and offers the same dependable quality you expect.
We are farmers too, so we understand how important good, clean hay is for your animals. We do our best every day to grow and deliver top-quality hay, but we are also honest: mother nature still calls the shots. While we cannot promise every bale is perfect, we can promise to stand behind our products.
If you ever find something wrong with your hay, like mold, dirt, rocks, or debris, bring it back to the store. We will gladly replace it with a different kind of hay or refund your money. We just ask that the hay be returned so we can make things right and keep improving.
All of our hay is tested and analyzed, so you know the nutritional value of what you are feeding your animals. That consistency helps your horses, livestock, and pets perform their best day in and day out.
We also carry a wide selection of hay varieties to fit your animals' needs and your budget, along with large and small flake shavings, supplements, salts, and other barn essentials.
At Farmers Direct Hay and Feed, we take pride in being your local, reliable source for farm and stable needs. We believe in honesty, hard work, and doing right by our customers, because when your animals thrive, so do we.
Premium Quality
Nevada, known as the Great Basin State, is a land of towering mountains, sweeping valleys, and abundant natural beauty. Each valley holds its own basin of water, some more plentiful than others, and most sit high above sea level, with elevations exceeding 5,500 feet and even reaching over 7,000 feet. This combination of elevation, water basins, and unique climate gives Nevada a distinct edge in producing premium horse hay that is shipped all over the nation.
The state's dry desert air is a hay grower's dream. With humidity levels sometimes dropping as low as 5%, Nevada experiences minimal dew and virtually no bleaching from moisture. In fact, it can be so dry that baling or raking often has to wait for even the slightest hint of dew. These conditions allow producers to put up some of the greenest, brightest hay anywhere, beautiful in color and unmatched in quality.
During the growing season, Nevada's wide temperature swings further enhance hay quality. Cool summer nights, often dipping into the 40s, let the plants rest and rejuvenate, while daytime highs climb into the 90s and 100s under bright, blue skies. Combined with center-pivot irrigation systems and alkaline-rich soil, these conditions create fine-stemmed, high-nutrition hay with superb texture and vivid color.
People often ask if Nevada hay is dyed because of its striking green hue, but the answer is simple: absolutely not. That rich color comes naturally from the state's low humidity, high desert air, and careful farming practices. We take pride in growing and baling our own hay right here in Nevada, and shipping it to customers across the country who demand nothing less than the best.

I get the 3 string 3rd cut alfalfa and it is wonderful especially for my 2 older horses who can chew the smaller stems and the girl at the counter was very nice and helpful. I live one hour away but will be buying again soon.
