Large Shavings

We carry Suncoast shavings in both fine and large flake options. Suncoast is a premium pine shaving that is kiln-dried, low dust, and highly absorbent. Fine flake absorbs the most, so it is the everyday pick for horses stalled at home. Large flake is the show pick: the bigger flakes do not cling to a horse's coat or gear, though they soak up less. Both are a step up from the generic shavings you find at the big box stores.

Large flake shavings make a uniform, tidy bed, and the big flakes do not cling to a horse's coat or gear the way fine shavings do. That is why they are a popular choice for show stalls. They absorb less than fine flake, so for an everyday stall at home most people use fine.

Yes. The uniform flake and low dust make large flake shavings ideal for show stalls where appearance and a clean, professional bed matter. They bank up nicely along the walls and present well for buyers and judges.

Fine shavings sift easily and give maximum absorption, which is why they are the everyday pick. Large flakes absorb less urine, but they do not stick to a horse's coat or gear, so they are the show pick.
