Himalayan rock salt blocks carry the sodium plus trace iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium in small amounts, which is why they're preferred over plain white salt for pleasure and performance horses alike. They weather-harden rather than dissolve in rain, so a 3-4 pound block on a paddock post lasts 6-10 weeks for one horse. Cattle, goats, and sheep use them too.
